Bodegas Roura

A FAMILY WINERY OF VITI-VINICOLA PASSION :

Bodegas Roura is a family winery, with about 45 hectares of its own vineyards, located in the heart of Alella, north Barcelona. Founded in 1987, the winery began its history by bringing to the market a tipical White wine from the área, called  xarel-lo, a red wine and a cava brut nature.

The white varieties predomínate, growing in a decomposition granite soil (called “saulón”), that allows a very fast drainage and meets the ideal conditions for the cultivation of the vineyard.

At the beginning of the 80s, Juan Antonio Perez Roura, conceived a project to continue a task that was begun more than 3000 years ago by Phoenicians, and that reached its peak with the Roman Empire. There is historical evidence that Alella wine was exported to Rome from year 140 B.C. until year 250 A.D. It was highly appreciated by Roman people.

Convinced about the possibilities of the area, with its traditional vines and some new ones that had been recently introduced, Juan Antonio embarked on the project of making high quality wines.

The winery began its commercial career in 1990, by launching in the market a white wine from year 1989, a red Crianza wine from 1987 and a Cava Brut Nature. New references were gradually added  to complete current range.

The initial winery, with a Surface área of 4.000 m2, was expanded  with a new cellar, distributed in two half-underground floors, each one of 1.600m2,and equipped with new oenological technologies, in order to increase production capacity, and increase wine quality.

Actually, we continue to produce wines and cavas in a tradicional way, with Denomination of origin D.O. Cava and Alella, and we export to several European and asian countries.

TRADITION THAT PRIORITIZES QUALITY AND TAKES CARE OF THE ENTIRE ELABORATION PROCESS :

At Bodegas Roura, we control the entire process of making and produce wines, taking care of every details. This simbiosis between man and land combines the traditionals arts of planting, harvesting, processing and bottling.

Our wines, like jewels, are the results of almost 10 different varieties, combined with originality. We focus on classic and traditional range, for our wines, and focus on modern and young range for cavas.The goal is that all palates find their place.

Modern winery and a qualified technical team, make possible good results, and a limited production of our wines.
